We always bought waffle mix until we grabbed the flour and decided we could make it ourselves! This recipe makes roughly three waffles but can easily be doubled.
1 cup wheat flour
1 cup milk
1 tbsp baking powder
1/4 cup cane sugar
2 tbsp oil (coconut works nice)
1 tsp vanilla extract
Place all ingredients in a large bowl and whisk together. Scoop batter into your waffle maker. Most waffle makers have their own scooper and timer that this mix will work with.
Top the waffle with your favorite treats!
I like to add flavors to my waffles. Dried peanut butter blends in nicely for peanut butter waffles. I like to top peanut butter waffles with home made whipped cream and fruit jelly.
Carob powder is a tasty substitute for chocolate and is easily incorporated into waffles. I like to top Caron waffles with coconut flakes and whipped cream or in the picture below, goat cheese and honey.
